Regina’s Daughter Flannery O’Connor Was Diagnosed With Lupus In Wildcat
Flannery was struggling with the same disease that took her father’s life when she was a child.
When Flannery visited a doctor in Georgia in 1950, the doctor only told her mother the diagnosis. At the time, she was only 24 years old.
Moreover, her mother, Regina, knowing that the father had passed away from the same disease, thought that the shock would be too great for Flannery and decided not to tell her.

She used to live in Savannah until her adolescence. Her father’s diagnosis with lupus forced the family to relocate in 1938 to a home in rural Milledgeville, where her mother, Regina, was raised.
Disabled for over a decade by the lupus she inherited from her father, which eventually proved fatal, O’Connor lived modestly, writing and raising peafowl on her mother’s farm.
However, Flannery O’Connor passed away on August 3, 1964, due to lupus. At the time of passing, she was only 39 years old.
She was buried beside her father in Memory Hill Cemetery in Milledgeville.

"I don't know what I would do without her." (Flannery O'Connor commenting on her mother Regina.) Looking forward to seeing how Laura Linney plays Regina in the upcoming film, "Wildcat." It should be interesting! (Photo of Laura Linney and Maya Hawke) #FlanneryOConnor pic.twitter.com/OjskQGynTJ

In Wildcat, she amazingly appeared as the lead character, Flannery O’Connor’s mother’s role. She also quickly shifts into a new character with each short story.
The most exciting aspect of the dual narrative stricture is the different facets of Regina that Laura embodies in each sequence. This is a living representation of how writers infuse aspects of their own lives into their work.
Wildcat Is The Unconventional But Undercooked And Disjointed Biopic
The review team at Roadtopeacefilms found the movie to be a modern rendition of an old biopic.
Even though Maya Hawke gives a remarkable performance, the movie never quite comes together, leaving viewers confused and disoriented.
Maya Hawke delivers one of the year’s best performances as a woman divided.
She is bold and shy, a believer cursed by doubt, a writer who longs for privacy, and a woman who longs for connection. Hawke successfully conveys her strength and fineness.
