The first name, Morphine, was derived from one of the dialogues in Lady Gaga’s music video “Marry The Night.”

A nurse delivered the dialogue, “Good morning, morphine princess,” which inspired Dion to use the name.

In addition, the last name Dion was inspired by her own drag house, the House of Dion.

The fashion goddess, Morphine Love Dion, is the first generation Latina because her parents are from a country in Central America, Nicaragua.

Moreover, Morphine, 27, is the first queen of Nicaraguan ancestry to appear as a contestant in the Drag Race franchise.

Nonetheless, she was born and raised in Hialeah in the Miami metropolitan area of Florida, as her parents relocated there sometime before her birth.

In an interview with Allure, Dion shared that

she is completely rooted in her heritage because of her affinity for Latin culture.

She added,

 I’m always going to give Latina everywhere I go.

However, in another interview with MTV, the fashion icon said,

I’m from Hialeah. My parents are from Nicaragua, but I feel like I’m technically half Cuban.

She might have shared that because one of her parents belonged to a Cuban background.

During the drag show, Dion revealed that she hides her drag from her parents because of fear that her parents will not accept her for doing drag.

Other than that, the drag racer hasn’t disclosed the details of her parents. Unlike her biological parents, we know that her drag mother is Athena Dion.

Despite her background, Dion’s upbringing clearly absorbed Miami culture. When asked if she adapted to any Miami slang, she replied,

I kept saying ‘bro’ and ‘duh’ and, like, ‘ay, pero like.’ I would say that all the time.”
