In 2009, a video of Jack Karlson’s arrest went viral, bringing renewed attention to the event and Karlson’s story.

The incident remains significant in Australian pop culture and has continued to capture public interest.

In the video, Jack can be heard yelling at law enforcement officials. He said,

“What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?”

“Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest. Have a look at the headlock here.”

Furthermore, Jack consistently argued that it was a case of mistaken identity, even though he was charged with using a stolen credit card.

Following the 2019 arrest of Australian campaigner Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, parallels were drawn with Jack’s incident.

Apart from that, his name is again in the media prominence following his passing at 82. Reportedly, Karlson died after battling cancer.

Likewise, he had other health issues, including systemic inflammatory response syndrome.

Jack Karlson Is Survived By His Family

Jack Karlson was married to his wife Eve in the past. According to an online report, Karlson dealt with various issues in his early years, as he had to spend some time in jail, too.

Meanwhile, the biggest hardship in his life was when a serial assassin allegedly ended the life of his wife.

Daily Mail reported that Jack’s wife was a Yugoslavian-born woman whose birth name was Ivanka Djugum.

Before tying the knot with Jack, Eve was in a relationship with convicted double ki**r Barry Quinn. Initially, she remained under the spell of Quinn.

In November 1978, Barry escaped from Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital with the help of Eve and other people. Shortly after Barry escaped, Eve was shot dead.

Once, journalist Mark Dapin talked about this matter and said Eve may have been hit by a girl named Sheryle Gardner, who is the former girlfriend of Quinn but may also be Robert Wright.

Jack and Eve remained together for a long time and welcomed two kids, a daughter named Heidi and a son named Erik.

Karlson is survived by nieces Kim, Kelly, Kerry, nephew Karl, and grandchildren Terri-Lace and Nec.

Furthermore, Jack took his last breath surrounded by his family members. In remembrance of Jack, one social media user wrote,

RIP Cecil George Edwards AKA Jack Karlson (democracy manifest). You made lots of people smile. I hope you get a succulent Chinese meal in heaven.
