He was raised with his sibling, Sheryl Kastenbaum, and sister, Sari Spector Kastenbaum.
Hiram Kasten prided himself on being a product of New York’s great public school system, from elementary through Taft High School.
Later, in 1974, Hiram majored in Theatre at CUNY’s Lehman College. Since childhood, Hiram Kasten has dreamed of being an actor.
Soon after college, Hiram was cast by Israel Horovitz in a revival of his play “Live” at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre.

Hiram started acting in the 1981 TV series Saturday Night Live. From 1993 to 1994, he appeared in the TV series Seinfeld as Michael, created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.
In the early 2000s, he appeared on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, My Wife and Kids, and 7th Heaven.
His last appearance was in 2012 on the TV series Fumbling Through the Pieces, where he played Jim.
